Botox for Men Q & A

What is Botox?

Neuromodulators are wrinkle-relaxing injections of botulinum toxin, commercially known as Xeomin, Botox, Dysport, and Daxxify. They can reduce the appearance of facial creases and wrinkles by relaxing specific muscles.

We use them to soften frown lines, forehead lines, and crow’s feet. Our providers can also use neuromodulators to help with chronic migraines, temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMJ), uncontrolled blinking, and excessive sweating in the palms or underarms.

How is a Botox treatment performed?

First, we ask you to make exaggerated facial movements so we can identify the areas that the treatment would most improve. We take extra measures to avoid the muscles necessary for natural expressions so that you won't look “frozen.”

We use the tiniest needles possible, so the treatment is mostly painless, similar to acupuncture. No anesthetic is required, and the procedure only takes a few minutes.

You will notice a change about three days after treatment, and it takes about two weeks to see maximum results. Potential side effects include temporary bruising and a slight headache after treatment, but that’s rare.

Benefits of Botox for Male Patients

Botox can be used for a variety of reasons for men outside of softening and reducing fine lines and wrinkles between the eyebrows, in the forehead, and/or around the eyes. Many of our male patients love to soften these lines, especially the line that forms between the eyebrows, as it can create the illusion that you are upset or angry at rest.

The male patients that we work with always comment on our individualized attention and natural aesthetic to restore a youthful and masculine aesthetic, making sure not to have any “plastic” or "frozen" appearances. Botox is not only utilized for cosmetic reasons but also can help with problems such as chronic migraines, temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMJ), uncontrolled blinking, and excessive sweating in the palms or underarms. We will walk you through a customized cosmetic treatment plan, leaving you feeling confident!

How long does Botox last?

The effects of Xeomin, Botox, and Dysport last about three months. After repeated treatments, your muscles are trained to relax, and your wrinkles remain less severe. Thus, less medicine is needed to achieve the same result over time.
