Hello and welcome to Zand Dermatology! Our practice is a little different than the typical dermatology office. I would like to invite you to become better acquainted with my background, values, and my distinct philosophy.
I’ve always believed that our skin tells a larger story.
My interest in integrative dermatology began with my own health. Years ago, I was struggling with debilitating symptoms, and despite extensive medical testing, I couldn’t figure out what was wrong. Eventually, I discovered that a food intolerance was contributing to how I felt. That experience changed the way I thought about health—and the questions I started asking as a physician. I became fascinated by the connections between our skin and the rest of our health: nutrition, hormones, sleep, stress, lifestyle, and the changes our bodies naturally go through over time. It led me to explore evidence-based approaches beyond traditional dermatology while still relying on the medical and surgical training that is the foundation of my practice. For me, it’s never been conventional versus holistic medicine. I believe in using the right tools for the right patient.
When you come to see any of our providers at Zand Dermatology for acne, rosacea, eczema, hair changes, or another skin concern, we don’t look only at what we see in front of us. We want to understand what else might be going on. A prescription may be exactly what you need. Other times, there may be changes we can make to your skincare, lifestyle, or routine. Usually, there isn’t just one answer.
One area I’ve become especially passionate about is perimenopause and the ways hormonal changes affect our skin, hair, and overall well-being. So many women reach this stage and suddenly feel like their bodies are changing without anyone having told them what to expect. Acne can come back. Skin may become drier, thinner, or more sensitive. Hair changes. Sleep changes. Body composition can change.
And yet, we don’t talk about it nearly enough. I want to help change that. I want women to understand what is happening in their bodies and feel comfortable talking about it. Aging isn’t a disease, and I don’t believe we should treat it like one. But I do believe women deserve good information, honest conversations, and options for caring for themselves through every stage of life.
That philosophy extends beyond the exam room. I believe in movement, nourishing foods, meaningful relationships, restorative sleep, and spending time outdoors. I’m not going to tell you to never go in the sun. I’d rather teach you how to enjoy your life outdoors while protecting your skin and reducing your risk of skin cancer. I don’t want prevention to come from fear. I want it to come from understanding.
I approach aesthetics in much the same way. Less is often more. Most of my patients don’t want to look “done”—they want to look healthy, rested, vibrant, and still like themselves. That’s really what Embrace Your Skin means to me. Aging and change are part of being human, and you can embrace that while still choosing to address the things that genuinely bother you. There are constantly new treatments, products, supplements, and trends promising to change our skin. Part of my job is helping you figure out what actually works, what is worth your time, and what is mostly hype.
As the daughter of an engineer and a psychologist, I grew up fascinated by both science and people. At Harvard Medical School, I fell in love with dermatology because it brought together so many things I loved—medicine, surgery, technology, creativity, and human connection.
Years later, that human connection is still my favorite part of what I do.
My job isn’t simply to treat your skin. It’s to listen, educate, give you options, and help you care for your skin through all the different stages of your life.
I look forward to being part of your journey.
Warmly,
