I Know I Want to Look Better—But I Don’t Know What I Need
A trusted, physician-led guide to cosmetic treatments through every decade
You do not need to know which treatment to book. You do not need to understand the difference between BBL, CO2, Ultherapy, microneedling or filler. You do not even need to know exactly what is bothering you.
At Zand Dermatology, we begin by listening. What has changed? What still feels beautifully like you? Do you want a subtle refresh or a more meaningful correction? How much downtime, maintenance and investment feel comfortable?
Just as importantly, you need a physician you can trust—someone who will help you understand what would make a genuine difference, what can wait and what you do not need at all. Our role is not to sell you everything we offer. Sometimes the most honest recommendation is to begin with one treatment, improve your skincare or simply do nothing yet.
Our philosophy is simple: natural results, honest guidance and less—but better—treatment.
In Your 20s: Protect and Prevent
Your 20s are usually about building excellent habits, protecting your collagen and treating concerns that already affect your confidence.
We may recommend:
Most patients in their 20s do not need an extensive cosmetic plan. Healthy skin and thoughtful prevention will usually matter more than chasing every new trend.
In Your 30s: Maintain Collagen and Soften Early Changes
In your 30s, expression lines may begin to remain after your face relaxes. You may also notice early sun damage, redness, uneven texture or subtle changes around the eyes and cheeks.
We may recommend:
This decade is often about maintaining what you have—not changing your face.
In Your 40s: Restore Structure, Collagen and Brightness
In your 40s, collagen loss, hormonal changes and accumulated sun exposure often become more visible. Your face may look tired even when you feel well, or makeup may begin to settle differently.
We may recommend:
Combination treatment can be especially effective in this decade. Small improvements in several areas often look more natural than aggressively treating one feature.
In Your 50s: Support Menopausal Skin and Restore What Time Has Softened
During the menopausal years, declining estrogen can affect hydration, collagen, elasticity and healing. Skin may suddenly feel thinner, drier or less resilient, while changes in facial volume and definition become more noticeable.
We may recommend:
The goal is not to erase every sign of age. It is to restore light, softness and structure so your appearance reflects how vibrant you still feel.
In Your 60s, 70s and Beyond: Choose What Will Make the Greatest Difference
Beautiful results are possible at every age. The key is choosing treatments thoughtfully, respecting the skin’s changing needs and being honest about what nonsurgical care can—and cannot—accomplish.
We may recommend:
At this stage, more treatment is not necessarily better. We prioritize the areas that will create the most meaningful improvement while preserving expression, character and individuality.
Start With Your Concern—not a Treatment Name
“My face looks tired.”
Depending on the cause, we may consider cheek or temple filler, tear-trough correction, Botox, Ultherapy or treatment of dullness and sun damage.
“My skin is sagging.”
Ultherapy can stimulate collagen beneath the skin and gradually firm the face, jawline and neck. When laxity is significant, we will also be honest about the limitations of nonsurgical treatment.
“My skin looks dull or uneven.”
BBL, chemical peels, microneedling, facials or medical-grade skincare may help restore brightness and clarity.
“I have brown spots and sun damage.”
BBL can improve sunspots and uneven pigmentation, while fractional CO2 resurfacing may be more appropriate when sun damage is accompanied by deeper texture changes.
“My face is always red.”
Vascular laser treatments can target rosacea, facial redness and visible blood vessels.
“My wrinkles are present even when I’m not moving.”
Depending on their depth and location, we may recommend fractional CO2 resurfacing, microneedling, filler, skincare or a combination approach.
“I don’t look like myself anymore.”
This is where trust matters most. We will evaluate facial structure, volume, movement, skin quality and laxity—and help you identify the smallest number of treatments likely to make the most meaningful difference.
Why Your Cosmetic Physician Matters
Cosmetic treatments are medical procedures, not simply beauty services. The person advising you should understand facial anatomy, skin biology, medical risks, healing and the long-term consequences of repeated treatment.
A trustworthy cosmetic physician should be willing to say:
“You don’t need that.”
“That treatment will probably not give you enough improvement.”
“Let’s start with one thing and reassess.”
“There is a less expensive way to address this.”
“This concern would be better treated surgically.”
“You already look beautiful. Let’s preserve that.”
You should never feel pressured to purchase a large treatment package before you understand who designed it, why each procedure was recommended and what improvement you can realistically expect.
At Zand Dermatology, your cosmetic plan is grounded in physician-led medical judgment—not a sales quota. We want to build a relationship with you over time, which means protecting your trust matters more than selling you a treatment today.
What Happens During Your Cosmetic Consultation?
We will:
You Should Still Look Like You
The best cosmetic dermatology does not announce itself. You should look rested, healthy and beautifully familiar—not frozen, filled or transformed into someone else.
You do not have to arrive knowing what you need. You only need a thoughtful place to begin—and a physician you can trust to guide you honestly.
