Dr. Katie Given, MD, PhD, MBA, FAAD
Dr. Given is board-certified in Dermatology and in Micrographic Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology (Mohs Surgery)—a rare and prestigious distinction. She brings deep expertise in the treatment of complex skin cancers, paired with a thoughtful, patient-centered approach that aligns beautifully with our mission at Zand.
In addition to joining our practice, Dr. Given holds a clinical appointment at UCSF, where she teaches Mohs surgery and procedural dermatology to residents and fellows at the San Francisco VA.
Her exceptional training includes:
- Internal Medicine internship at University of Chicago Hospitals
- Dermatology residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital, where she served as Chief Resident
- ACGME-accredited Mohs Surgery, Reconstructive Surgery & Cosmetic Fellowship at UCSF
Dr. Given is an active member of professional organizations including the AAD, ASDS, ACMS, and the AMA. She also serves as a Contributing Editor for Dermatologic Surgery, and has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on topics such as:

- Genetics
- Novel imaging techniques
- Scar revision
- Cosmetic dermatology
A frequent national speaker and innovation advisor, Dr. Given also consults for companies developing next-generation imaging and treatment technologies for skin disease.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Given brings her signature energy and passion to every part of life. She’s an FAA-licensed pilot with commercial, multi-engine, and instrument ratings, an expert skier, avid golfer, and ballroom dancer. She loves spending time with her family and exploring the natural beauty of the Bay Area.
