Katie Given, MD

Dr. Katie Given is a board-certified dermatologist and fellowship-trained Mohs micrographic surgeon, with subspecialty certification in Micrographic Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology (Mohs Surgery) —a distinction held by only a select group of dermatologists nationwide. She has performed over 3,000 Mohs procedures. 

Dr. Given brings deep expertise in the treatment of complex skin cancers and advanced reconstructive surgery, paired with a thoughtful, patient-centered approach that reflects the mission of Zand Dermatology. Alongside her practice in Marin, she holds a faculty appointment at UCSF, where she teaches residents and fellows procedural dermatology and Mohs surgery at the San Francisco VA.

• Dermatology Residency – Yale–New Haven Hospital (Chief Resident her final year)
• ACGME-accredited Fellowship in Mohs Surgery, Reconstructive Surgery, and Cosmetic Dermatology – UCSF
• NIH T32 Postdoctoral Fellowship in Clinical Informatics, where she advanced melanoma database quality and validation
• Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology (FAAD) and the American College of Mohs Surgery (FACMS).

Dr. Given has a strong record of professional leadership. She served as the Resident Representative to the ASDS/ASDSA Board of Directors (2019–2021) and is a current member of the Alumni Council for the MBSD at the University of Chicago (2021–2027). She is a Contributing Editor for Dermatologic Surgery and actively participates in multiple committees across the AAD, ASDS, ACMS, and AMA.

Her scholarly work includes numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on advanced skin cancer management, genetics, scar management and revision, cosmetic dermatology, filler complications, and novel imaging technologies. A frequent national speaker and innovation advisor, she also consults for companies developing next-generation imaging devices, injection technologies, vitiligo treatments, and cosmeceuticals.

She is an FAA-licensed pilot with commercial, multi-engine, and instrument ratings, as well as an expert skier, avid golfer, and ballroom dancer.
