Insurance and Billing

Zand Dermatology participates with Medicare and accepts Medicare fees. If Medicare is your primary insurance, we will submit claims directly to them on your behalf. Billing of any supplemental insurance claims is the responsibility of the patient, but Medicare will forward claims to your secondary if prior arrangements have been made.

We also accept Aetna PPO and Cigna PPO plans, and we will submit claims directly to them on your behalf. Please call us to book an appointment if this is your insurance. Zand Dermatology is an “out-of-network” provider for all other private health insurance companies. Our office will gladly provide you with a billing sheet that you can submit to your insurance provider to obtain out-of-network reimbursement. Payment is due at the time of service for non-insurance-contracted patients. Please note that cosmetic procedures are generally not covered by any insurance carriers.

Dermatologic Medications Now Available in Office

Over the last couple years, we and our patients have been horrified by the skyrocketing copay costs of prescription derm medications – acne cream for $200, steroid creams for $600, even generic. What?! Turns out there is a national crisis in the availability and prices of dermatologic meds, just like the costly EpiPen scandal. So we at Zand Dermatology are solving this problem for our patients ourselves. We are thrilled to have received Physician Dispensing Association (PDA) Accreditation and can now dispense prescription dermatologic medications here in our office. Dr. Zand has custom-designed these medications to combine multiple Rx ingredients into one, compounded by an FDA facility just for our patients. So now you can avoid the hassle of a trip to the pharmacy, the headache of dealing with insurance, and save money since most of our customized meds cost less than your insurance copay. Hurray for superior prescription ingredients, convenience and value!
